Catholic Media Conference 2017
June 21-23, 2017
Promoting Stories of Hope through Connectivity
Welcome to all. Make your plans now to participate in the largest gathering of international Catholic communicators in North America in Quebec City June 21-23, 2017. The Catholic Media Conference will meet at Laval University in conjunction with the SIGNIS World Congress to share experiences and best practices in Catholic communications.
The Vatican officially recognizes SIGNIS as a Catholic organization for communication. Called the World Catholic Association for Communication, SIGNIS has consultative statutes with UNESCO, Ecosoc (United Nations in Geneva and New York), and the Council of Europe. The organization includes members from 140 countries and brings together radio, television, cinema, video, media education, internet, and new technology professionals. The theme for the conference is Promoting Stories of Hope through Connectivity.
SIGNIS members will meet during the beginning of the week, we will share Wednesday activities, and then CPA will hold CMC meetings on Thursday and Friday. SIGNIS and CMC attendees will have access to each other’s workshops.
Quebec City, Quebec
The conference will be held in Quebec City. The city is over 400 years old and the only walled city north of Mexico. Its streets are cobblestone and full of old-world charm.
The conference meetings will be held in Laval University; hotels are nearby and shuttles will be provided. There will be activities and sessions held offsite to allow SIGNIS and CMC attendees to get to know one another as well as a chance to experience Quebec.
CMC17 will hold a Mass in Notre-Dame de Quebec Basilica-Cathedral, the site of the only Holy Door in the Americas, and only the seventh in the world. It is also the parish church of the oldest North American parish north of Mexico. In 2014, the cathedral celebrated its 350th anniversary.
